Oh, how I'm absolutely terrible at naming things.

Screenshots

(SPRITE GRAPHICS STILL TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH SOME OTHER THINGS)

Info

This is a hack that I've been working on for about the past month or so. I aim to make it as independent as possible, relying little on resources by others. Expect never before seen/heard graphics and music, along with some quality level design. There's no plot for now, but that should change sometime in the future along with the title.

Soundtrack

Song1.spc - The mandatory happy grassland song, best fit for, well, grassland levels but not much else.

Song7.spc - More moody and atmospheric than the last. Suited well for forest, underwater, and maybe possibly underground type levels.

And that's it for now. Feel free to post any comments/criticisms bellow here.
Another one? Hopefully this continues on as it looks very good again as your other works.

Will listen the spc when I get to my pc.
I'm very impressed by your SPCs. I see that you're a real renaissance...woman?
this looks like a very unique hack. i really like your spc files; they sound very different from all of the hacks i've seen.

your graphics are very eye-pleasing as well! #smw{:peace:}
My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.
Thanks! I was debating whether or not to show my .SPCs, so it's nice to hear they aren't ear bleeding.

It's neigh impossible for me not to start a new one; I hardly have the attention span to continue working on one for more than a month! lol I fear not that this is set to go down the same road as my previous projects, as I have a load of thongs to do here. If I get bored of design levels, I can move onto drawing. If I get bored of drawing, I can move onto composing and so on. I know it can seem a bit impatient of me, but in my defense I can safely say that this project was conceived from a much smaller project I was working on and isn't an entirely brand new thing, and that all my past works are either on hiatus or canceled (like, I left vanilla hacking far behind, so my vanilla hack is no longer alive).

Only if you wish to perceive me as so. #ab{:P}

Anyways, let us put this post to a different use:

A background I drew intended to be used on Layer 3 (I've yet to convert it). It's surprisingly fun working under such limitations.

New preview of my forest tileset. It's still very much a WIP so that's why it looks so terrible.
Terrible? Must be kidding.....I do like the colors/palettes in the FG and that BG. You started quite good at making gfx.

Keep going on!
I was meant to comment on this a few hours ago but stuff got in the way so here is my views on this. Seeing how you posted graphics in the Screenshots Thread, I must say that seeing similar graphics used here is quite impressive. I imagine this hack to turn out good in the end as similar hacks seem to have positive feedback regarding all of the elements in them. Not sure why you find the forest tileset "terrible" as I find it looks excellent for now.

Good luck on this!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad to know my forest tileset isn't making your eyes bleed, though I'm still not persuaded into thinking it's not terrible, at the very least the dirt pattern is ugly.

In any case, new graphical updates:

Finally some enemy replacements. I was desperately needing to replace those unfitting SMAS Shy Guys.

Global block replacements. I had the question blocks done already, as you can probably tell. Going left to right, we have the cement block, the pickup block, the turn block, and the last but not least, the brown block.

And that's it for now. Expect to see the finished first level along with a start to the second one and a fresh batch of .SPCs soon, but only if I don't get caught up in the on going graphics contest.

e: Okay nevermind, the forest tileset isn't all that bad after all. I guess I can be too much of a perfectionist at times.
I love everything you draw. And, this of course, looks really good. The patterns, the colors, just everything. I don't even mind the dirt tiles you don't like.
I'll definately be keeping a peeper out on this project.
My layout has removed you.
What a nice hack! All blocks and enemies are gorgeous! Can't wait that C3!
Seriously, stop re-regging 980.

Just as Everest stated, I really was going to post a few days ago but stuff just got oonto my way, but I'm here now.

I really like most of the graphical changes you have for your hack there, but by being simply honest, I think that Mario's graphics just feel out of place and (to me) and seem overused. Another thing I like is the hack decoration mainly because it doesn't overflow like in many hacks that I have previously seen, though I can't really say much about the level design since there are only 4 screens of the level, but I am pretty sure that it will do fine.

Keep this up, Wuthering. I'll be keeping an eye in this thread!

e: I had to edit this post.
I really like the direction that this hack is taking especially with the graphics. It seems you are getting better at drawing graphics. How long have you been doing graphics anyway? I think they look pretty good. I cannot wait to see this in-game.

Not that long, to tell the truth. I've been doing it rather on off for a while, but I'd say in total I've had around 3 months of experience. Having experience in arts prior to this helped out a lot I guess. Everything's still hit or miss at this point, though.

I wouldn't say they're overused; I've hardly ever seen them used in any hacks! But they're placeholders in any case, they will not appear in the final game.

That's good. It's always nice to see up and coming pixel artists. I know you're new to pixeling but I have a nitpick.

The way you shade the mountains and clouds in your BG makes them look extremely flat and bland. Try giving them a more rounded appearance that makes them 'pop'. If you don't know what that means, just PM me. I'll show a technique for doing that.
#NOTDEADYET

for the past few days I've been working on revitalizing this and pushing the graphics/music to higher standards. The level design will also be redone completely bcuz I'm not feeling what I have. Only one level is close to being complete anyways so idc.

Soundtrack update - new1-1
it was actually really hard to make a good enough upbeat 1-1 song. lots of blood, sweat, and tears went into making this (not really).

also the graphics update I showed earlier (with some changes):

The clouds are layer 3 thanks to Lunar Magics new layer 3 functionality (god bless). This now uses an actual hdma gradient made by hand out of love.

I haven't started the level redesigning progress yet. I'll likely use levels from previous unreleased hacks I did that I find good.

#wario{:peace:}
The ? boxes in the sky feel like they should be a lot thicker, not just thin-ass outlines.
Or have like those double outlines instead of filling them in, know what I mean?
Your layout has been removed.
Good job with all these custom graphics. I see you put a lot of work on them. Looks really good so far, I like the happy-like atmosphere.

The steel drums at the beginning make me think it would go into a beach sort of thing but it goes into this...cave? Upbeat castle? I don't know, but the strings seem to take away from the grassland feel.

As for the graphics, they look good. I can't draw my attention away from the weird white line on top of the hills.
Man, good graphics you've got there. You're extremely talented.
I agree with MercuryPenny about the port; it doesn't sound too much like it would fit a grassland level. Your old port was way better in my opinion.
1-1 redesign has commenced:

I find that the song sounds better fitting when actually playing the level, though that may just be my bias. I'll see what I can do to improve the song.

not really. Could you give me an example of what you're talking about?
