[REMOVED] SMW A Magic Quest I, Episode 1 - by drake-68

[download zip]

What a great hack! The level design is nice, I really enjoyed playing all the levels, and everything else is well-made too. It's too bad I have to remove it because of a few smaller-bigger problems. But if you fix these (and you totally should), your hack is more than welcome in the hacks section. #ab{:)}

First off: the custom music breaks the hack in accurate emulators. Yes, this is a strict rule now. As you can see in the Hack Submission Guidelines:
Quote
Your hack must be compatible with the newest version of all major emulators (ZSNES, Snes9x, bsnes).
Exceptions can be made if absolutely necessary so long as you warn players in the description, but easily avoidable incompatibilities (e.g. custom music) will not be accepted.

I recommend you to re-download all the custom songs you used in your hack, and switch to AddMusic 4.05 (maybe even AddmusicK). Then be sure to test it in an accurate emulator before submitting it (snes9x 1.53, bsnes, ZMZ).

Some minor errors that would not be necessarily removal reasons, but I'll still mention them while I'm at it:
- I didn't really get why this thing was necessary. Maybe you didn't want the player to have other power-ups than a Mushroom? But then after the door, I could easily find Fire Flowers and Capes... so I don't really get it. But it's not a big deal actually.
- Here, you can jump "into" the ceiling.
- The switches are a bit glitchy in this level.
- Also, this Switch Palace is a bit glitchy, too. That said, the Swtich Palaces could be definitely longer. Yes, they are kind of like a bonus room, but they could be more challenging than just going into a pipe... just a suggestion. #ab{;)}

So yeah, that's it. I'll keep this thread open for other reviews, maybe other players had something else in their mind.
