CaffieCraft 4.0 - SMWC Minecraft Servers [1.8]

Link Thread Closed
1. Probably Hard.

2. Creeper damage to terrain is more annoying than anything else. I say disable.

3. Enable the chest lock, and it'd be great if it was automatic.

Quick note regarding chest locking plugins; even if we don't install them, don't think that your chests will be unsafe. We have a logging plugin already that will be able to tell if somebody looted/destroyed your chest and what was in it.

tl;dr chest locking would be pretty pointless

trying to influence the outcome of the poll isn't very fair, eX

and while there are already plugins installed in the server to roll back chests and see who moved what where, it's my understanding that they're unnecessarily difficult to use.

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.

Yeah, but I get the feeling that people were under the impression that their items would be potentially unsafe without this kind of plugin, which is completely untrue.
Honestly, I had a good feeling you'd come and chime in at some point despite stating that there is to be no staff input whatsoever. The fact that I flat out predicted you couldn't resist yourself just kind of proves something. Again, this discussion is not for staff.

On a side note, not to sway in favour of chest protection (but seeing as you couldn't help yourself), it's perfectly possible to manipulate those logs, if you're smart enough.

Frankly, I feel that I have every right to state my opinion about this. So, how exactly would somebody fake the logs? I've never heard of this happening.
I've explained this in an IRC 'discussion', if you want to call it that, so I won't mention it here mainly because 1) I feel like I may have already swayed opinions by stating that logs can be manipulated and 2) I don't want to give griefers and thieves any ideas.

1) Hard mode as it gives the most challenge besides hardcore.

2) I think off would be best so user made creations are not damaged, either that or get one of the land claim plugins that lets the area owner decide if creeper destruction is on or off.

3) I really would like to see chest-locking and having it locked by default.
Tune in for the grand opening later.

Just a reminder, caffie survival is up in slightly under an hour. We want as many people possible on for the launch, so if you're interested, be ready to come on!
Surprised no one made a post about it; But we had a lot of people together for the Wither fight awhile ago (which i was unforgettably unable to attend at the literal last second). Here's everyone circling around some poor victim before the fight. From what i have heard, DSC ran off with the prize (the neather star). If anyone has anything to mention/any pictures feel free to do so.

And with that; We would like to announce that we have a set date for the EnderDragon fight, which will be on the next Sunday (May 5th). Hope we can get as many people to join as we did for this Wither fight.
Group shot!
I may have to join in on the Ender Dragon battle. I'm pretty sure my sword could do a good job at keeping the endermen off us. The burning effect keeps them teleporting like crazy.

By any chance, could someone PM when we're ready to do the dragon fight? Thanks!

I guess if I'm on IRC at the time, or someone else is, we could do a notice over on #minecraft.

As the FTB specific mod, I'd like to poll people who use that server about something. I've been trying to move us up to the Ultimate pack for a while now (about two months), and it's down to one real decision and me catching Dots or Disco or some other admin at the right time.

A new ore will need to be generated. This has to be done in new chunks, and there are three ways of doing this.

A) Keep our current map, and venture out into unexplored terrain. Alternatively, create a Mystcraft age specifically for mining Quartz.

Pros: Everyone's progress is kept, and nothing will need to be rebuilt or reobtained.
Cons: New terrain might cause unneeded stress on the server.

B) Create a new map, with the same seed as the old.

Pros: Nobody's minimap needs to be re-calibrated, and quartz will spawn all over the overworld.
Cons: Our things will be gone. Also, it will be much harder to obtain steel, and thus electric tools.

C) Create a new map with a completely new seed.

Pros: Quartz, and a sense of adventure and perhaps one of comradery, akin to when the server first started.
Cons: Again, nothing will be carried over, and steel will require Nether access and magma cream.

A quick visual guide of which mods will be available between the current pack (Mindcrack 8.2.0) and the Ultimate pack (1.0.1). And about Mystcraft, I submitted a config file that disables crafting of a block necessary for age creation - the Book Binder. This block will only be available to myself and administrators to help ease the stress FTB might cause on the rest of Caffie. Best case scenario, pages won't spawn either, but we'll have to see about that. I plan to have a fast-travel hub age, which will be built in creative mode and supplied with books, and either one or two flat mining ages in which people can set up automatic mining devices like the Quarry block or Frames with Block Breakers on them. The first of these will be in a Beach biome, and the second (if there will be a second) will be in a Forest biome (for bauxite).

This poll will end on Saturday, May 11th. I feel that this is enough time to get the opinions of everyone.

FTB stuff

To be honest I'm struggling between option A and C, but I think I'm leaning more towards C.

Option A because p4 and I already built some stuff and I don't feel like going through the entire process again (idk about p4). p4 also created a huge amount of quarries. We can simply go to unexplored areas (preferably oceans) and find quartz there.

Option C because the stuff we built was simply a base. We haven't really built anything cool like a visually appealing mansion or whatever other fancy stuff is possible. Furthermore, I think it's only fitting that we start over if we switch to a modpack which has more stuff than its predecessor. The whole ages thing also sounds pretty cool. I imagine we could also make ages solely to spam a quarry on.

(Option D: Can we UU-matter it? :D)

In short: I vote for C.
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
Voting for A, I like the new stuff in ultimate pack but I've also gotten a lot of stuff done on the current map.
I'd vote for C.
I've made quite some progress in the map, and I love my crappy base </3. But I feel like this will be a step forward, and creating an equal amount of love to the new map as everyone else did to the old one would be great. =P
